Hello
Hi, I am Mona Nakhla. I attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA and graduated in 2016 with a Masters in Human Service and Family Counselling. I am a registered professional counsellor with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA). I hold certifications as a trauma professional and anger management specialist.
Life can get difficult, and sometimes a little help from a professional counsellor can make things better. I care about your well-being and provide you all the tools you need in order to seize the day and learn how to tackle even the most traumatic circumstances.
My Therapy Approach
1. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): CBT is a widely used therapeutic approach that focuses on identifying and challenging negative thought patterns and behaviours. By helping clients recognize and reframe their cognitive distortions, CBT aims to promote healthier thinking patterns and improve emotional regulation. This approach can be particularly beneficial in addressing anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders.
2. Mindfulness Techniques: Mindfulness practices involve cultivating present-moment awareness and non-judgmental acceptance of thoughts, feelings, and sensations. By incorporating mindfulness techniques such as meditation, deep breathing exercises, and body scans, clients can learn to manage stress, enhance self-awareness, and develop a greater sense of inner peace. Mindfulness can also help clients build resilience and cope with challenging emotions.

3. Attachment Therapy: Attachment theory emphasizes the importance of early relationships and their impact on emotional development. Attachment-based therapy focuses on exploring and healing attachment wounds to improve interpersonal relationships and self-esteem. By addressing attachment patterns and working through relational dynamics, clients can develop more secure attachments and experience greater emotional well-being.
4. Psychoeducation: Psychoeducation involves providing clients with information about mental health conditions, treatment options, coping strategies, and self-care practices. By educating clients about their symptoms, triggers, and treatment goals, psychoeducation empowers them to take an active role in their healing journey. This knowledge can help clients make informed decisions, set realistic expectations, and build resilience in the face of challenges.
